Course Outline

Course Description: This is an 8 week course held every Tuesday evening (6:30pm to 8:30pm). This course is designed for beginner level learners to develop general language for travel. You will learn vocabulary through reading, writing, listening and speaking activities. You'll learn greetings, then how to communicate about dates and times, transport, accommodation, food and dining, shopping, sight-seeing, using directions, reading signs and seeking medical help. The course will also cover some basic grammar to allow you to communicate your needs. Speaking and conversation will be part of every lesson to help prepare you for your travels! Spanish is the primary language of 20 countries worldwide and there are more than 400 million native speakers of Spanish, making it second only to Chinese, in terms of the most spoken languages in the world. English is just behind Spanish, with approximately 360 million native speakers. Spanish is the third most studied language in the world, after English and French. Your instructor: Anamaria hails from Peru but lives in Darwin now. She is passionate about language and is looking forward to taking students in this course on a journey with the Spanish language! She is an IT masters student and has a Bachelor degree in Social communications including digital news and social media management.
