T2 2025: Spanish-Beginners & Continuers

Course Outline

Course Description: This is an 8 week course held every Wednesday evening (6:30pm to 8:30pm). This course is ideal for students who are beginners or have studied some Spanish in the past and would like a refresher course. Students will learn and revise everyday vocabulary for interacting with others; describing people, places and weather; likes and past-times. They will learn/revise basic grammar to enable interactions using suitable verbs, gender and sentence structures. In each lesson students will be reading, writing, listening and speaking in a variety of activities, designed to encourage active learning. There will also be lots of visual presentations to encourage conversation. Spanish Continuers is for those who have completed any previous Spanish beginners course and would like to move to the next level. It is also suitable for those who know the basics (perhaps from high school, self study, or travel). Your instructor: Anamaria hails from Peru but lives in Darwin now. She is passionate about language and is looking forward to taking students in this course on a journey with the Spanish language! She is an IT masters student and has a Bachelor degree in Social communications including digital news and social media management. Spanish is the primary language of 20 countries worldwide and there are more than 400 million native speakers of Spanish, making it second only to Chinese in terms of the most spoken languages in the world. English is just behind Spanish, with approximately 360 million native speakers. Spanish is the third most studied language in the world, after English and French.
