T2 2025: German for Beginners - 8 weeks

Course Outline

Come along to our German for Beginners language course, and you’ll start by learning the building blocks of communication. This includes basic vocabulary like greetings, numbers, colours, and everyday phrases that are practical for real-life situations. As you begin to form sentences, you’ll explore simple grammar rules, such as verb conjugation, sentence structure, and the present tense. The course will also introduce you to German pronunciation, helping you master the unique sounds of the language, like those in umlauts (ä, ö, ü), so you can speak with clarity and confidence. Beyond the language itself, you’ll develop essential listening skills, training your ear to understand simple spoken German in conversations. You’ll practice asking questions, ordering food, or even shopping in a German-speaking environment. The course often incorporates cultural elements too, giving you a window into the traditions, etiquette, and lifestyles of Germany and its neighbours. By the end, you’ll have the foundation to hold simple conversations and navigate basic interactions in German, setting you up for further learning or travel adventures! Your Tutor: Cecilia is a new tutor with DASC. She has travelled from her native Italy, has seen a few places in Australia and is now settled in Darwin for a while. She has a Master's Degree in Literatures and Modern Languages German, French and English. She also has a 3 Years Degree in Literatures and Modern Languages Russian and English. Now she will be teaching German for Beginners with DASC every Wednesday evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm! She will share her knowledge and experience of the German language with you, taking you through the very basics so you can grow in confidence speaking a new language.
